Product manager jobs are a chosen career pathway for many medical reps. As with many senior pharma jobs in sales and marketing, you will nearly always have had be a sales rep in pharma in order to progress in product management.
Most companies will have several tiers of product manager, starting with an assistant product manager, who will work with a product manager to design and produce promotional materials for the field force, through to group product managers who manage a team of product managers working across different products and therapy areas.
Ideally you will have a sales background with a marketing qualification and good understanding of marketing principles. Product manager jobs are well paid with excellent prospects to progress to senior levels for those who acheive good results.
